Using dark colors in your color scheme whether it is on the walls or on the furniture pieces themselves is also indicative of this style.  To add a contemporary and modern twist to the Gothic style – clean lines in dark colors with splashes of patterns, textures, fringes or subdued ornate details in the mix will give you this effect
